Select and Elite Programs

The Oshkosh United Select/Elite programs are for 11U through 19U soccer players looking for a challenging and rewarding soccer experience. Teams are designated as "Select" or "Elite" based upon the league they compete in. Select teams compete in the local East Central Soccer League while Elite teams compete in the WI Youth Soccer Association State League.

The 11U age group encompasses 9U and 10U players that can play at 11U until they become a 12U player. At the younger age levels (11U - 14U) our club focuses on individual player development over winning. It is our belief that developing strong players will lead to the development of strong teams as players get older.

Select and Elite teams at Oshkosh United have professional coaches that have been licensed by the WI Youth Soccer Association or the United States Soccer Federation. All of the coaches follow a club created developmental philosophy and skill curriculum to maximize player development and enjoyment. Our coaches are guided and receive ongoing coaching education from our coaching directors:

  • Director of Coaching: Matt Callahan
  • Associate Director of Coaching: Brian Casey
  • Technical Director: Toby Bares

The soccer year runs from August 1st through July 31st. A player's "soccer age" is determined by the year they were born. Check out the age eligibility chart to check what age level your child would compete at. Players tryout in June for the following season. The evaluation staff makes every effort to place all players that attend tryouts on a team. Players are evaluated through a variety of different methods before being placed on a team. Current players are evaluated by their team coach and then compared to new players by the coaching directors and other tryout evaluation staff (not affiliated with the age group team).

All teams attend tournaments to provide additional soccer experiences. Teams will typically play in two tournaments during the fall season and two tournaments in the spring season. One of the spring tournaments will be our own "Oshkosh on the Water" soccer tournament. The others are typically in the Fox Valley and occasionally in the Madison or Milwaukee area.

Select Teams

All of our teams begin competing in the East Central league. The East Central league spans clubs ranging from Neenah to Green Bay. The East Central League has different divisions (Classic 1, Classic 2, Classic 3) so teams are placed in a league that is appropriate for the skill level of the players. Having multiple teams at multiple levels of play insures that all players face an appropriate level of competition. East Central offers a league in the fall and also in the spring. When accepting an offer to play, players can elect to play in the fall season, spring season or both. In the Fall, East Central teams play games on weekends. In the Spring, East Central teams play on weeknights (each team has a specific night they play on - league website linked here).

Elite Teams

Teams that are 13U and older that finish first or second in the East Central League can apply (if interested) to enter the WI Youth Soccer State League. State League teams play games on weekends against teams throughout the state. Most games typically take place in the Milwaukee or Madison area. The WI Youth Soccer State League offers various divisions as well (Second Division, First Division, Premier Division). Teams typically start at the First or Second Division level and can work their way into the Premier Division if they win the First Division.

Cost

Oshkosh United strives to provide a superb soccer experience at a reasonable price. Below is some information about the cost to play United. Oshkosh United has a scholarship program as well to help with club fees, when needed, as we feel cost should never be an obstacle that prevents a player from playing.

  • The cost is broken down into a registration fee and a season fee. These fees are separated out as that allows players to select whether they play fall and spring or just one season.
  • The registration fee is paid once per soccer year (August 1st - July 31st) so that covers the fall and spring seasons. The registration fee covers the fixed costs of running the club that are incurred whether a player plays one game or for the entire season. These include player registration fees, insurance, website fee, admin fee, coaching director fee, storage unit rental, etc.
  • The season fee covers the cost associated with playing in a specific season. These fees include coaching fees, tournament fees, ref fees, field rental for games, etc.
  • The fee differs for different age groups and depending on whether a team is playing in the East Central League (Select) or WI Youth Soccer State League (Elite). Elite teams have a higher fee as the fees incurred are higher.
  • The uniform cost is approximately $110. Uniforms can be used for more than one season so uniforms only need to be purchased when needed, not every year.

2023 Fall and 2024 Spring fees are below

Age Group Team Level - League Registration Fee Season Fee (For each season played)
U11 - U12 Select - East Central $160 $290
U13-U19 Select - East Central $160 $300
U13-U19 Elite - WYSA State League $160 $360

Refund Policy

  • The registration fee is not refundable. If a player registers with the club we are billed the insurance and registration fees by the state soccer association.
  • The season fee is only refundable if a player suffers a season ending injury or moves out of the Fox Valley.
  • Any refund requests should be sent to administrator@oshkoshunited.com
  • Any refunds will be less club incurred processing fees.
