***COVID-19 Tryout Update - June 30th***

Oshkosh United will be hosting in-person tryouts starting on July 13th. The schedule is listed below and was updated on June 30th with the following changes:

  • 2004/2005 girls tryout length was extended
  • Added a second day for the 2008 boys
  • Added a second day for the 2007/2008 girls

Oshkosh United is following the Play On guidelines that were created by US Soccer. The Play On guidelines have different phases that each have different modifications and mitigation strategies. The WI Youth Soccer Association allowed clubs to move to phase 2 (local health guidelines supersede Play On guidelines) as of June 29th. Phase 2 allows for limited small-sided scrimmages. For the tryout, the first part will be technical activities that will be non-contact and then the second part will be a small-sided scrimmage. US Soccer recently put on a webinar and highlighted that short interactions between players is relatively low risk compared to other activities such as taking a water break in close contact with other players. Taking that into consideration, Oshkosh United will take several steps to mitigate as much risk as possible, whenever possible, to create the safest environment possible. If a player is not comfortable participating in scrimmage activities, we will provide other opportunities during that tryout period. If a player is not comfortable attending an in-person tryout, please register online and then email tryouts@oshkoshunited.com and we will work to set-up a virtual (Zoom) tryout.

If a player registers for tryouts in June the tryout fee is $25 (early discount applied during the registration process). On July 1st the tryout fee increases to $30. We are asking all families to register by July 5th so our tryout staff can adequately plan.

If you have any questions about tryouts, please email tryouts@oshkoshunited.com.

Tryout registration is currently closed. If you are interested in joining Oshkosh United, please email tryouts@oshkoshunited.com.

Oshkosh United holds tryouts in early June for the select (11U and older) teams. The "soccer year" runs from August 1st to July 31st so the June tryouts are for the following year. Players that will only play in the spring still need to tryout during the June tryouts. The WI Youth Soccer Association and our league, East Central Soccer, determine the window of when we are able to hold tryouts. One of our core values is to provide the opportunity for an excellent soccer experience to as many players as possible. At United we make every effort to place all players that attend tryouts on a team. If we don't have enough open spots to place players we can work with families to try to find another club with an open spot. To further highlight our commitment to find a roster spot for each player, players not offered a roster spot will have their tryout fee refunded.

General Information

  • Players are placed on teams by birth year. All players are expected to attend the tryout for their birth year unless they have made prior arrangements with the coaching directors. Players are not allowed to play up unless special circumstances are involved. Click here for our playing up policy. The birth year age eligibility chart can be found at the bottom of this page.
  • Our league has multiple competition level options including Classic 1, Classic 2 and sometimes Classic 3. If possible, we will form multiple teams per age level and place the teams in a competition appropriate division to ensure the players have a developmentally appropriate and enjoyable experience.
  • All age groups will have two tryout days. The activities will be different on each day so players should attend both dates. **(In 2020, each age group will only have one tryout date)**
  • There is a $25 ($30 starting on July 1st) tryout fee which must be paid which processes your player into the system.
  • If you have any tryout related questions, please email tryouts@oshkoshunited.com.

Can't Make Tryouts?

The best case scenario is for a player to be evaluated next to the players they are competing with for team placement. While not ideal, if a player was unable to attend the regularly scheduled tryout times  in June they have a few options:

  • Attend a training session of an Oshkosh United team - email tryouts@oshkoshunited.com if you need to set this option up.
  • Schedule an individual tryout in which a member of the Oshkosh United coaching staff will visit a practice or game to conduct the tryout.  The cost for this process is $50.  However, if a staff coach attends the game and the player rarely touches the ball the evaluator will not have much to comment on so this option should be one of last resort. Email tryouts@oshkoshunited.com if you need to schedule an individual tryout.

Please make every attempt to attend the regularly scheduled tryout times.

**All WI Youth Soccer Association clubs utilize the same registration program, Demosphere. When you click to register you will be taken to the Oshkosh United component of the state's registration system. The registration system will have you create an account that will be used when registering for any soccer program for any child (so keep that log-in information).
